Wellbeing and Boarders' Clinic

Health Care and Medical Provision

The health of our pupils is paramount to their wellbeing and overall success at School, a team of practitioners dedicated to health is detailed below.

All new pupils (day and boarding) must complete a ‘Health History Form,’ which is sent out with the joining instructions pack during the summer term prior to starting. We kindly ask that they are returned as soon as possible. International pupils are asked to supply a detailed medical history and vaccination history from their current doctor.

Any changes to health or concerns about wellbeing must be reported to the relevant Houseparent (Senior School), Head of Year (Prep/Pre-Prep) or Deputy Head Pastoral (any section), so that appropriate care can be put in place whilst your child is at School.

Physical Health

Day pupils should be registered with their own local GP and can access support during the day at their respective School Reception, who will liaise with parents/guardians as necessary.

Boarding pupils have access to our Boarders’ Clinic on Conway Road. This facility supports those young people who do not have access to local healthcare and medical provision. Led by a Director of Health and Wellbeing with a full-time Clinic Manager and team of registered nurses, the staff are experienced, with a proactive approach to preventative healthcare and an extensive knowledge of all aspects of independent school nursing. The nurses have support and professional supervision from the team of NHS Doctors at Churchfields Surgery, BHI Parkside, Stourbridge Road, Bromsgrove, B61 0AZ (Telephone +0044 (0)1527 888590). All boarding pupils are registered with Dr Law at the practice.

There is an out-of-hours on-call residential nurse team based at School during term time.

The medical team also provides support with managing external healthcare appointments, such as hospital, physiotherapy, dental care etc.

Wellbeing and Mental Health

Alongside physical health, we recognise the importance of positive mental and emotional health as part of the holistic package of overall wellbeing. We are pleased to offer a bespoke Wellbeing Hub, located on Conway Road for all pupils in the Senior and Prep School to access. The Director of Health and Wellbeing is the Mental Health Lead. A Wellbeing Nurse (Adolescent Mental Health Nurse) offers support to those in crisis, or those who need help with building confidence and resilience. These staff also support and liaise with all sections of the School about mental health and wellbeing. The Prep School and the Pre-Prep have a Mental Health Co-ordinator who oversees all aspects of this provision, and there is a dedicated space at Prep School for related activities.

All sections can recommend external counsellors who can be available to meet with pupils during the School day.

The Wellbeing Teams liaise with parents/guardians and external agencies, such as CAMHs, to provide appropriate care and intervention.

Staying Safe

We take our Safeguarding and Child Protection duties very seriously at 老王射区. We have a full-time Designated Safeguarding Lead, who is based at the Senior School, with responsibility for all sections. However, each School has their own Safeguarding Lead and team attached to it. All children and staff know what to do if they have a concern and we encourage communication from all members of the community about any aspect of a child’s welfare.

It is important that families know where to go to find help; sometimes knowing where to start or what to ask for can be a challenge. You can visit the Worcestershire Family Virtual Hub to find a range of resources to help you, they have a range of different types of resources that you can access online, on the phone or face to face.
